Andhra Pradesh will release Krishna water from August 3 to cater to the drinking water requirement of this metropolis, an official release said on Saturday.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi wrote to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart YS Rajasekara Reddy on July 20, requesting him to order release of water from Kandaleru reservoir from the first week of August to meet Chennai city's water requirement.

Reddy, in his reply, had informed that he had given necessary instruction to the Chief Engineer of the Telugu-Ganga scheme for the water release, the release added.
