Yet another case of sexual abuse of poor Muslim girls in the name of ‘marriage’ surfaced here on Tuesday with the arrest of a 65-year-old Omani national, who forcibly 'married' a girl young enough to be his granddaughter.
His accomplice, another Omani national, was also arrested.
The marriage would've gone unnoticed had it not been for gutsy Munni Sultana (20), who was dead against marrying an old man. While being dragged away to a hotel after the nikah, she cried out for help. Luckily for her, locals intervened and informed the police.
“We have booked cases against the Omani nationals and their local accomplices under sections 420 (cheating) and 109 (abetment) of the IPC. We have sent the girl for medical tests to determine her age,” investigating officer Nageshwar Rao said.
