Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the building of Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), the Union Minister quoted the Independence Day eve speech of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assuring that vocational education and training programme would be implemented in mission mode.

He appreciated the efforts made by PSSCIVE in providing adequate working skills to youth. He also said the objective of national development could be achieved only by providing employable skills to youth.

Stressing the need to give due importance to bottom up approach for identification of skills for training in rural areas, Arjun Singh said youth should be prepared for both lower and higher order skills. He also said Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of basic education with emphasis on self-reliance and dignity of labour could be achieved through vocational education.
