Arjun Munda, the second Chief Minister of Jharkhand, is a fairly new entrant in politics having joined the BJP just four years ago and the electoral scene eight years before that. He was the Welfare Minister in his predecessor the Babulal Marandi's Cabinet.

A graduate in Social Sciences, 36-year-old Munda fell for politics in his student days.

Tribal issues of backwardness and class struggle were ones in which he was involved wholeheartedly and also took active interest in rural development.

Born at Ghoda Bandha village in Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum district on January five, 1968, his late father Ganesh Munda was spirtually inclined, while his mother Saira busied herself in social work.
