Singh, 75, entering the Rajya Sabha for the second term, Congress member Rashid Alvi and Vijaykumar Ramniklal Rupani (BJP) took oath in the presence of Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in his Parliament House chamber.

Singh was re-elected from Madhya Pradesh while Alvi, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, was re-elected from Andhra Pradesh. Rupani, entering the Upper House for the first time, was elected from Gujarat.
