Arms dealer, 2 smugglers arrested
A TEAM of selected police personnel has been sent to Bihar to investigate an inter-state nexus between cartridge smugglers and an authorised arms dealer of Varanasi, arrested by the Chandauli police here on Sunday evening after disclosures made by two arms smugglers of Bihar during interrogation.

The Chandauli police have recovered 1,850 illegal cartridges and 20 licenses of firearms from the possession of the arrested persons.
Suspecting the licenses of firearms to be fake or duplicate, SP (Chandauli), RK Chaturvedi has sent a team of selected cops to investigate the case in different districts of Bihar to bust the inter- state racket fully.
According to information received from police in Chandauli, cops were engaged in checking suspected persons and vehicles at Maldah village under Sahabganj police station.
Meanwhile, they spotted a fast running white Fiat car.
During checking of the car, the cops found 900 cartridges hidden in a part of car and arrested two riders identified as Nagendra Sharma and Shailendra Sharma, residents of Bihar Sharif in Nalanda.
During interrogation, they admitted that they had received the bullets from an authorised arms dealer of Varanasi, Bimal Kishore.
Acting on this information, a team of Chandauli police rushed to Madauli area in Varanasi and searched the house of the authorised arms dealer.
During checking, cops found 950 cartridges and 20 licenses of firearms issued by different districts of Bihar.
Soon, police arrested him and took him to Sahabganj police station where two arrested persons of Bihar were present. The SP interrogated them and found vital information about inter- state gang of cartridge smugglers.
