Army foils infiltration bid in Pooch

Army foiled an infiltration bid in BG sector of Poonch district on Friday morning after which a massive search operation was launched in the area. According to reports, an army jawan was injured, though no official had confirmed it.

Army foiled an infiltration bid in BG sector of Poonch district on Friday morning after which a massive search operation was launched in the area.

According to reports, an army jawan was injured, though no official had confirmed it.

A defence spokesperson said that on noticing movement along the LoC at 8.30 am, the army opened fire to which the infiltrators retaliated and the firing continued for about an-hour.

Army sources revealed that havaldar Shri Ram of the 20 Jat battalion was injured in the BG sector firing.

They also said that said infiltrators moved back after the exchange of fire. The search operation continued for some time in the area.

It has been about 20-day since Pakistan had fired along the LoC. It last fired intermittently on Oct 31 in Akhnoor area.

Sources said that army is apprehending spurt in infiltration bids in this area.
