Troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles and police launched an operation in Model Town area of Sopore, 52 km from Srinagar, on Tuesday evening after receiving information about the presence of militants, they said.

The ultras opened indiscriminate firing on security forces when they were zeroing-in at a house. An Army captain was injured in the initial firing and he was shifted to 92 Base Hospital.
