"A criminal is a criminal irrespective of his nationality," he said in response to question on the stand-off between India and Pakistan after a Pakistani truck driver was arrested with narcotics being smuggled in a truck which had entered India as part of the cross-LoC trade.

He said that it was "unfortunate the way situation has been handled by Pakistan", which has held hostage truck drivers who had crossed over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of the trade.

"We had allowed their truck drivers to cross the border, but Pakistan is not allowing them to enter. Rather it is holding our drivers hostage. Now the issue is being handled by external affairs and commerce ministry, hope it's resolved soon," said Omar.
