Baristas donned creative caps for a unique competition organised recently by The James Beard Foundation blog Delights and Prejudices in association with illy Espresso. The Latte Art Contest asked professional and amateur baristas to send in pictures of their frothy ‘etchings’.

Five finalists were shortlisted for a public vote, and results were declared on Tuesday.
A skull and crossbones entry by an artist who identified himself as KAS13 emerged the winner with 3,244 votes, followed by a fire-breathing dragon etching with 2,432 votes.
The winner took home a $400 espresso machine.
