Former underworld don, Arun Gawli, who is contesting from the South-Central Mumbai constituency on the symbol of his outfit, the Akhil Bharatiya Sena, is worth over Rs two crore.

In an affidavit filed before the returning officer (RO) as a mandatory provision in the election laws, Gawli has stated that he possesses immovable property worth Rs 71.49 lakh and movable property worth Rs 1.33 crore.

The immovable property includes his house at infamous `Dagadi chawl' in Byculla of Central Mumbai from where 52-year-old Gawli operated when he headed a gang in the underworld. Gawli has pegged the property value at Rs 71.49 lakh.

A school dropout after 11th standard, Gawli appears to have made intelligent investments in various government instruments to secure future of his family.

In the movable property he has listed in the affidavit, Gawli has mentioned deposits worth Rs 23.26 lakh in banks and financial institutions, Kisan Vikas Patras worth Rs 37.65 lakh, and UTI investment worth Rs 6.06 lakh, besides cash Rs 7 lakh, ornaments Rs 18 lakh, and vehicles worth Rs 14.53 lakh.

Although Gawli is a multi-millionaire, he claims in his affidavit that he does not possess a Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the Income Tax.
