Ved Arya's close associates say that he was a fitness freak and had been going for morning walk in the same garden since years.
"He loved walking so much that many a times he walked up to Juhu. He would easily climb Vaishnodevi temple in Jammu and Kashmir without a break. He was very particular about his morning walks and exercise," said Surajit Mitra, head of communications, Milestone Capital Advisors Ltd.
Arya was also active in sports. "He participated in half marathon every year. He also played squash and badminton regularly as he enjoyed it," added Mitra. Mitra also said that Arya would also encourage his employees to remain fit.
Prior to Milestone, Arya, an engineering graduate with MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad, was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Director of Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd. He had also been the CEO of Globus Stores Private Limited, which he founded in 1998 while he was with the Rajan Raheja group where he spent more than 10 years. He was also the founder and director of the Retailers Association of India.
