At the beginning of the year, many schemes were introduced for the convenience of residents, but by the end of 2011 they have remained mere announcements.

Some feel that facilities like e-tendering, vehicle registration and issuance of driving licence have become faster. Even registration of property is no more a time-taking process.

But at the same time, residents complain of promises, which the administration has failed to fulfill.

In the beginning of the year, it was announced that a city bus service would be introduced and a sports complex would be constructed at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium, but nothing has materialised as of now.

At Sector 29, a hub of eating joints, a multi-level parking was proposed, but nothing has been done in the direction too. Every evening, one is in a rat race to get a parking space in the market.

Besides, there was a proposal to build a new bus stand at Sector 29. Though the site has been identified, the proposal is hanging in the air.

“In 2011, the government had announced 36 services, some of which could not be implemented. But in 2012, we will make sure that they are implemented so that and maximum residents can avail the benefit,” he added.
