ANNOUNCING ELEVATION of UP Nagrik Parishad Chairman Daya Ram Prajapati from the Minister of State to the Cabinet rank, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday said the Centre caused obstructions whenever his government made any efforts to uplift the downtrodden.
The CM said that the Prajapati community had played an important role in the development of society. The State Government was committed to provide special opportunities to bring the community into the mainstream of social and political system, he said adding that the BJP, the BSP and the Congress were conspiring against the Samajwadi Party while the Centre caused obstructions whenever the State Government made any attempts to uplift the downtrodden classes.
He made the announcement while speaking at the Rashtriya Prajapati Sammelan at the Laxman Mela grounds here today. Soon after the Chief Minister’s announcement, Governor TV Rajeswar issued necessary orders elevating Daya Ram Prajapati to the Cabinet rank. His elevation coincided with the conclusion of ‘Mulayam Sandesh Yatra’ that he had been leading since January 1, 2006.

{{/usCountry}}Referring to Iran issue, the CM said by voting against Iran India had lost an old friend. The SP was opposed to the Centre’s policy and a nationwide moment on the issue would be launched from February 18, he said.
On this occasion, the CM was weighed in blood. He was also presented a shawl, statue of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, a silver mace and a memento. The CM also flayed the Centre for not cooperating with the State Government and not announcing a special economic package for UP.
Referring to the phone-tapping issue, he said the Centre did not take the issue seriously when initially informed about phone tapping. Later it had to accept the State Government’s point, he said.
