The chemical analysis of the viscera of 24-year-old Rahul Pachori, a follower of religious leader Asaram Bapu, confirmed the presence of aluminum phosphate, a poisonous substance, in his body.
Rahul died here on January 31 while undergoing treatment at a hospital after he complained of uneasiness.
Harinarayanchari Mishra, superintendent of police, Jabalpur said the police would record the statements of the deceased’s friends and those close to him, and would lodge a first information report in the case. Mishra told HT on Wednesday that the call details of Rahul’s mobile phone were being examined.
The police got the forensic test done after doctors mentioned in the postmortem report that the exact reason of death could only be ascertained after the test.
In his complaint to the police, Rahul’s father Dileep Pachori said he suspected somebody poisoned his son at Asaram Bapu’s ‘satsang’ -- where he was a volunteer -- last month.
On the night of January 30, Rahul, who was on his way to his Guraiaghat residence on the outskirts of the city, told his mother on phone that he was feeling uneasy.
When he rang up his mother again to tell her that he had been vomiting, she asked him to rush to a nearby hospital.
