A senior Supreme Court advocate, 54-year old Ashwani Kumar served as Additional Solicitor General in 1991 and was elected to the Rajya Sabha in May 2002.
A product of the prestigious St Stephen's College of Delhi and the Jawahar Lal Nehru University, he was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 2004.
