The tournament was originally scheduled to be held next month but was put off at India's request to enable their players to rest between two important series against Pakistan and England.

India begin a seven-week tour of Pakistan on Thursday and return in mid-February to take on England at home.

Defending champions Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates and Oman will take part in the Asia Cup.

ACC president Sharad Pawar of India said the dates and venues of the tournament would be decided later in consultation with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
