Asian economic growth seen strong again: ADB

Haruhiko Kuroda, President of ADB, expects the Asian economy excluding Japan to grow by around 6.5 to 7.0% in 2006.

Asian Development Bank President Haruhiko Kuroda said on Friday he expected the Asian economy excluding Japan to grow by around 6.5 to 7.0 per cent this year.

Kuroda also told Reuters he expected the oil price to stabilise between $50 and $60 per barrel towards the end of this year, meaning oil prices would not pose any additional risk to the Asian economy.

"I would expect that sort of growth of 6.5 to 7 per cent this year," Kuroda said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss Alpine resort of Davos.
