"The India Leadership Initiative, the newest member of the Institute's Global Leadership programmes, is investing in the next generation of civic-minded Indian leaders at a pivotal point in the country's modern history and development," said Walter Isaacson, president, Aspen Institute.

"India for a very long time needed this kind of a programme which will help in developing a new generation of value-based action-oriented leaders," said Tarun Das, president of Aspen Institute India.

The Indian programme is the latest addition to Aspen's network of leadership initiatives in partnership with local organisations in 14 countries in Africa and Central America, besides the US, stated a release by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Based on Henry Crown Fellowship, ILI will focus on business, government and civil society leaders.

The institute has selected 24 fellows from diverse backgrounds including business, media, civil service and banking for the ILI programme from across India, in the age group of 30-45.

The first seminar will take place in India October 25-29 and all the 24 fellows will participate in a programme comprising of multiple seminars and leadership development activities over a period of 18-24 months.
