VHP leader Pravin Togadia will be banned from entering Assam during the coming Lok Sabha elections if he failed to give an undertaking that he would not violate the provisions of law, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said on Thursday.

"Togadia will not be allowed to come here during the poll period in order to maintain communal harmony and peace in the state", Gogoi told reporters here.
"If he wants to come here, then the VHP leader will have to give an undertaking that he will not violate the provisions of law and disturb peace", the chief minister said.
"Otherwise Togadia will be immediately arrested upon his arrival here", he added.
"Togadia came here the other day and made provocative and inflammatory statements in an attempt to disturb traditional communal harmony and peace", he asserted.
The Home department had been instructed to proceed with legal action against Togadia for making such provocative and inflamatory speeches here, he said.
