"The Southern Command authorities will not tolerate any case of indiscipline and strict action will be taken against those found involved," a Southern Command spokesman told PTI when asked about the incident on Tuesday night, in a busy square in the city which saw a high drama after a traffic cop stopped two jawans of College of Military Engineering (CME) for entering a "no entry" zone.

The Southern Command spokesman further said "normal procedure will be followed before taking any action in the matter".

He clarified that the GOC-in-C Lt Gen AK Singh had not issued any official statement in connection with the incident.

Enraged over the traffic constable's action, a group of CME jawans, allegedly vandalised a chowki in the Sambhaji bridge area and assaulted policemen including two women constables as well as some cameramen who tried to take pictures.
