Astha Gupta had no clue that that she would be a star when the board results are out on Tuesday.

A Commerce student of Laxman Public School, Astha did her school and parents proud by scoring 91 per cent in the CBSE Class XII exam. It is an achievement because Astha is disabled.

Her left hand is not fully developed “Astha’s handicap never came in her way and she has been a scholar throughout,” her mother informs. Astha’s future plans clearly illustrate this.

She wants to study economics honours from St Stephens College and then prepare for CAT. Even though she is not interested in politics, she has strong feelings about the reservation issue.

“It is fine to have reservation at the primary level but not in higher education,” says Astha. Besides being academically inclined Astha has other interests as well.

She likes reading. Harry Potter is her favourite. She has also been trained in Hindustani classical singing. It was probably this aspect of her personality that she bagged Ms Popular title in her school.
