At eight, Prachi recites, explains scriptures

EVEN AT the tender age of eight, Prachi Devi is able to fluently recite and explain the shlokas of ‘Shrimad Bhagawatam’, similar to what former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti did in her childhood.

However, this girl neither likes politics nor regards it as a medium for public welfare. “In the era of ‘Maryada Purushottam’ Ram, politics emerged as a powerful means for public welfare but present-day politics is centred on just fulfilling one’s personal needs,” says the eighth standard student who speaks confidently on the Gita, Vedanta and Ramcharitmanas and is nowadays delivering religious talk at Nehru Nagar here.

Asked if she wanted to become a religious preacher once she grows up, Prachi replies in the negative and expresses her desire to become a doctor.

About her classmates reaction on having a ‘sadhvi’ in their midst, the girl says, “I fix different time slots for school and religious education. The principal and other students have respect for me due to my hobby.”
