Decked up in multi-hued swathes of fabric, Diggi Palace came alive this year as the fashion fraternity descended to attend the Jaipur Literary festival. Least bothered at being branded bimbettes or brainless pinheads, the young and old dressed up in their unique styles. Whether it was a balding old man dressed in all green for St. Patrick's Day, or the cougar in her thigh high boots — the festival saw fashion in all its avatars.
Bling it on
From chunky gold bangles to glittery cummerbunds, page-three regulars were dressed in carefully created bohemian looks, a la Sienna Miller. After pretentious discussions on the similarities between Shobhaa De and Salman Rushdie, they grabbed the seats at every discussion unabashedly gossiping about ongoing sales at Zara and Hidesign. Donning the over-sized glasses to hide the dark circles, they hobnobbed with the who’s who of the literati.
The Fabindia brigade
Donning cotton kurtas, bright jholas, silver earrings and kohled eyes — the usual suspects — college girls, professors, wannabe writers looked fab in their FabIndia costumes. Usually congregated at the sessions of obscure writers, they were spotted engrossed in heated discussions about Marxist theories.

Clad in a Versace coat and Victoria Beckham jeans, Sarah Schneider from New York looks like she’s walked straight out of the pages of Vogue. “I think fashion defines my personality, it might be a literary event but there’s no better way of expressing who you are than through what you wear,” exclaimed Schedier.

Julian was peculiarly dressed in striped socks and shades of bright green from head to toe. Enjoying the crowd’s attention, he revealed his plans to dress up at his weirdest best every day. Jaipur is a pink city, so I will wear Gulabi tomorrow and maybe I will dress up in all gold as an ode to Jaisalmer, he joked.
