POST-GRADUATE admission process of Allahabad University (AU) passed off at the Pravesh Bhawan on the second day on Thursday. The student leaders, who are demanding increase in number of seats, maintained calm.

However, the student leaders held a meeting with the acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Janak Pandey and handed over a memorandum to him. Leaders of different student organisations, including AU students union office-bearers, held a meeting with Prof Pandey in the presence of AU Proctor Prof Jata Shankar, Additional City Magistrate and Circle Officer, Colonelganj.
The student leaders urged the VC that the varsity should not reduce the seats and terminate the additional classes unless the central ordinances were framed. The student leaders demanded increase in seats in post-graduate and under-graduate courses.
Prof Pandey received their memorandum and assured them that the memorandum would be forwarded to the HRD Minister.
The student leaders demanded that a meeting of the admission committee should be held to discuss restoration of old number of seats in the varsity after Vice-Chancellor Prof RG Harshe returned.
Those present at the meeting were Rajesh Singh, AUU general secretary Suresh Yadav, Vijay Dwivedi, Ziya Qounain Rizvi, Santosh Yadav, Student Federation of India's (SFI) district convenor Ajay Hindustani, Vikas Singh, Gyanendra Singh, Kaushal Patel, Rohit Tiwari, Prakash Dwivedi, Ashutosh Pandey and Ram Krishna Tiwari.
