STUDENT LEADERS of Allahabad University (AU) on Wednesday burnt an effigy of Lucknow University (LU) Vice-Chancellor Prof RP Singh to lodge their protest against cane-charge on LU students. The students also held a meeting which was addressed by student leaders including Vijay Dwivedi, Nawab Mahboob, Ziya Rizvi and Dr Nirbhay Singh Patel.
Dr Patel and Dwivedi also condemned the lathi-charge and said that Prof Singh had lost controls and imposing dictatorship on LU. Rizvi said that Prof Singh was acting under instructions of Sonia Gandhi and Arjun Singh.
The student leaders said that AU students will follow the steps of LU students to get their democratic rights. They also threatened to intensify demonstration against the attempts to destroy students union of LU and they would oppose any such move in the Allahabad University.
Those present in the meeting were Amar Singh Yadav, Irshad Ullah, Manoj Singh, Rahul Tiwari, Zafar Mehboob, Anurag Patel, Vikas Pandey, Sandeep Tiwari, Lalaram Saroj and Bharat Bhushan Bhatnagar.
