ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) students held a demonstration and submitted a memorandum at the district magistrate office on Saturday to protest against the arrest of agitating students of the Kulbhaskar Ashram Degree College. The students, led by Abhishek Shukla, raised slogans against harassment of students.

Addressing the students, Shukla said that students were being harassed in the State at the behest of the State government. He threatened to continue the demonstration till the students were released and demanded to lodge complaint against the culprits. Student leaders Sunil Dwivedi, Pradeep Narayan Dwivedi, Abhay Mishra demanded dismissal of the station officer responsible for brutal lathicharge on the students. They threatened to intensify the agitation against the police administration. The students handed over a memorandum to the city magistrate in the absence of the DM. Deepak Shukla, Vijay Dwivedi, Vikas Tripathi, Pawan Singh, Abhishek Singh, Irshad Ullah, Ashish Pandey and Anuj Shukla were also present.
ABVP concern
AKHIL BHARTIYA Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists expressed anguish over the harassment of students in different AU constituent colleges after visiting the colleges here on Saturday. The ABVP delegation led by general secretary Shivendra Mishra, met the student leaders of the constituent colleges and listened to the problems faced by the students.
Mishra condemned the lathicharge and arrest of students of Kulbhaskar Ashram Degree College, ruckus at Ewing Christian College and unrest in CMP Degree College. He appealed for peaceful solution to the problems and normal academic atmosphere in colleges.
