"A4 will be first available in Delhi and Bangalore and will then be launched in other metros," Audi General Manager (Africa, Middle East and India) Stefan Hamberger said at the 8th Auto Expo here.

Mr Hamberger said the company aims to sell 150 units in India in this calendar year. In total, Audi aims at selling 300 units of vehicles in India. The Volkswagen group company Audi currently sells A8, A6, and TT Coupe in India.

The SUV 'Q7', priced at about 50,000 euros, is being globally launched in February starting in Europe and will be brought to India by the last quarter of 2006.

The Q7 is available in two engine variants of a 4.2 litre direct injection petrol (FSI) V8 and a 3.0-litre common rail diesel that uses the latest-generation Peizo injectors.

Sources said with parent company Volkswagen already preparing to establish a manufacturing facility in India, Audi may also use this facility to manufacture its luxury sedan in the country. However, Mr Hamberger said no decision on this had been reached as yet.
