Group C and D employees of AG's office (Civil Audit) have declared to go on warpath against the downsizing of the department by the Central Government through its latest order to abolish all the posts lying vacant.

At a general body meeting of Group C and D Employees Audit Association which was held here recently, announced to go on an indefinite strike from March 1.
Subhash Chandra Pandey, vice-president of All-India Audit and Accounts Association said the employees would serve the notice of strike on February 7 through another general body meeting to be held the same day. Employees are expressing their strong resentment over the directive of the administration to abolish the vacant posts.
Pandey said that the move to abolish the posts had come at a time when the audit officers were facing acute manpower shortage affecting the efficacy of the audit . Besides, it was also against any rationale and interest of the department as well as against the acclaimed objective of public accountability.
"The abolition of posts in offices like P and T Audit is adversely affecting the promotional prospects of qualified Grade D personnel and clerks". Pandey further said that the abolition of posts was against the letter and spirit of the agreement reached with All-India Audit and Accounts Association on October 16, 1992 wherein the administration had committed to continue with the manual work norms in addition to agreeing for maintaining the growth rate.
