Aurobindo drug to enter UK mkt

The drugmaker says the UK entry will make it easier to obtain marketing approvals in other EU countries.

Drugmaker Aurobindo Pharma Ltd said on Wednesday it had an approval from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to market anti-depressant tablets, mirtazapine, in the United Kingdom.

The approval for 15, 30 and 45-milligram dosages of the drug would make it easier to obtain marketing approvals in other European Union countries, the drug maker said in a statement.

Mirtazapine is the generic version of Organon Inc's Zispin, the company said.

Aurobindo shares were up 1.6 per cent to Rs 623.95 in a firm Mumbai market.
