Aus Open: Bhupathi-Moodie enter 2nd round

Bhupathi and Moodie advanced to the second round with a straight set victory over unseeded Bracciali of Italy and Australia's Marach.

Mahesh Bhupathi and Wesley Moodie on Thursday advanced to the second round of the men's doubles at the Australian Open with a straight set victory over unseeded Daniele Bracciali of Italy and Australia's Oliver Marach.

The Indo-South African pair, seeded eleventh, won their first round match 7-5 6-3 in one hour and 16 minutes at the Melbourne Park.

Bhupathi and Moodie will now face the French pair of Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra who beat the German pair of Philipp Kohlschreiber and Florian Mayer 6-4, 6-3.

Teen sensation Sania Mirza, who had lost in the singles second round in the morning, suffered another setback when she lost her doubles first round match in the afternoon.

Sania, who teamed up with Corina Morariu of the USA, lost 6-2 6-1 to Amelie Mauresmo and Svetlana Kuznetsova, seeded 14th, in just an hour.

In the mixed doubles, Bhupathi partnering Martina Hingis, will face Taipei's Yen Tzuoo Wang and Na Li of China in the first round tomorrow.
