Authorities dismiss allegation

THE ALLAHABAD University officials rejected the allegation of question paper leak during the Post-graduate Admission Test . The varsity officials held a meeting and rejected the allegation made by some student leaders that the PGAT question papers were leaked. The meeting chaired by AU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajen Harshe also decided to go ahead with all the admission tests as per the schedule. He also issued a warning stating that any attempt to disrupt or discredit the exams would be dealt with an iron hand.

The varsity officials held a meeting and rejected the allegation made by some student leaders that the PGAT question papers were leaked.

The meeting chaired by AU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajen Harshe also decided to go ahead with all the admission tests as per the schedule.

He also issued a warning stating that any attempt to disrupt or discredit the exams would be dealt with an iron hand.The trouble started as the news of PGAT paper leak spread. AUSU president Ajeet Yadav called up PGAT-2006 director Prof Satyanarayan and the Proctor Prof Jata Shankar and claimed that the papers of several subjects were leaked.

He also said he was in possession of a solved question paper of political science. He demanded immediate cancellation of the PGAT.

Later, the students gheraoed the Proctor and assembled at the VC office to press for demand. The students also damaged some flower posts near the VC office.

The officials maintained that the alleged solved paper submitted to them could not be considered proof of paper leak as it was brought to their notice only after the start of the test. This could have been smuggled out by the trouble-makers.

The varsity officials resolved to go ahead with the PGAT as per schedule.
