?Automation processes, robotics must?

INDIAN WELDING Society (IWS) organised a technical workshop on ‘Welding & Allied Processes’ at Hotel Jehan Numa Palace in the City recently. The Society’s general body meeting was also held on the occasion.

Inaugurating the workshop, Commerce & Industry Principal Secretary O P Rawat lauded the efforts of the Indian Welding Society in disseminating knowledge and latest technology, especially to the small-scale industries (SSI).

He said breakthrough progress in productivity and quality could only be achieved through better automation processes and robotics. In his keynote address, head of the Welding Research Institute, Trichy, outlined the welding scenario in India and suggested some strategies to improve the technology-base in this area.

Acknowledging the efforts of State Government in developing small & medium industries in Madhya Pradesh, president of the Industries Association, Govindpura, Shalabh Sharma stressed on the need for a Welding Technology Centre in Central India, which would be of great help to industries towards infrastructural technology.
