The staff and administration of Arts College, however, could not do anything in this regard since Lucknow University (LU) administration took direct control of the college as soon as the term of former principal/dean, BN Shukla, expired in August. The varsity also constituted a committee to undertake administrative, development, renovation work, besides the control of Arts College faculty.

The committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Pro V-C RS Yadav to overtake the reigns of that college. So when the government finally released the fund it went to the Vice Chancellor’s account.

Since the time LU took over the administration of the Arts College, it has not taken any step to start renovation work or chalk out a plan for improvement of the building. According to sources, one of the reasons that prompted LU to undertake the reign of that college in their hands was the grant that was sanctioned to the Arts College. But, those close to the V-C, refuted the allegations.

The building is in a shambles. Most of the rooms have ventilators, the shades of which have broken letting rain, dust and dry leaves in.

The Photography department is one of the worst affected departments. The Dark Room is literally holed in darkness.
