ANTI-MALARIA MONTH will be observed in Madhya Pradesh throughout June this year and related activities have already been started in the districts.
State Malaria Committee has provided adequate supply of IEC material like stickers, danglers, poly boards, banners, hoardings etc to the districts, an official release said today. These activities are being carried out as per block-wise and date-wise action plan.
The State Government has drawn the attention of chief medical and health officers and district malaria officers to the possibility of spread of malaria during and after monsoon. They have been asked to enlist the cooperation of people and public representatives in effective prevention of malaria.
During the month, measures will also be taken for prevention of other diseases caused by mosquitoes like filaria, dengue, Japanese Encephalitis etc. Directives have been issued not to confine these activities to district and block headquarters but to extend them to village level.
To conduct activities under the anti-malaria month, district level and tehsil level taskforces have been constituted which are headed by Collectors and sub-divisional officers, respectively. Month-long activities began with advocacy workshops on June 1 at district and block headquarters.
Various activities being carried out under the month include exhibition on malaria and its prevention and educating people about the need and importance of using mosquito net and other measures to curb breeding of mosquitoes. Malaria raths are educating people about protection against malaria. These raths also have a lab and the facility of treatment of malaria.
