Security has been tightened in the temple town of Ayodhya, where terrorists tried to enter the makeshift temple in the disputed site in July last year, as a series of blasts rocked Mumbai on Tuesday evening.
A high-alert has been sounded in the town and additional security personnel were deployed at all religious places in the town, official sources said.
These measures were taken after seven synchronised blasts in subruban trains in Mumbai last evening claimed at least 190 lives and left another 625 injured.
Police were also keeping a close watch on Gorakhpur division, which shares border with Nepal, and personnel were conducting extensive checking before allowing the people to cross the borders.
In the industrial town of Kanpur, additional force have been deployed in sensitive areas and thorough checking were conducted at the Central railway station.
Railway Police are conducting checking in trains passing through Muzaffarnagar from Tuesday, sources added.
