Ayodhya under security cover after youth's murder

Haider, alias Danish, a BSc Agriculture student at a local college, was killed by unidentified miscreants near Sheesh Paigambar Dargah on Friday night. A historic grave was partially damaged in the attack.

The administration and the police have deployed heavy forces at Ayodhya, infamous for the Babri Masjid demolition, and its neighbour city Faizabad. The damaged grave was repaired immediately.

Faizabad district magistrate Vipin Kumar Dewedi has directed the enforcement of prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CRPC at several places.

Muslim leaders have requested members of the minority community to maintain harmony.

Dewedi, however, has said there is no communal tension in Ayodhya and Faizabad. The enforcement of prohibitory orders was a precautionary measure, he added.

Haider, a resident of Sasaram district in Bihar, was staying in Jinnati Masjid near the dargah. Local residents have said a group of people carrying sticks and iron rods was spotted in the locality on Friday night.

In August this year, violence had erupted in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh following the killing of 3 youths.
