Chandrashekhar Azad's 75th martyrdom day was observed with great reverence by various organisations of the city on Monday.

Azad had attained martyrdom in 1931 at the age of 25 in Allahabad.
The occasion was marked by rallies, cultural events, seminars and speeches held near the statue of the great freedom fighter at Chandrashekhar Azad Park.
Democratic Youth Federation of India organised a rally in which people participated in large numbers.
Most of the participants belonged to the rural areas and they had gathered at the venue since early morning.
They held the posters and banners which clearly voiced their opinion regarding the oppressive policies of the United States of America.
The rally started from Chandrashekhar Azad Park and after taking the route of Civil Lines through Subhash Crossing, it culminated at the same spot.
At a meeting held at the Subhash Crossing, the participants raised slogans against the adverse effects of liberalisation and globalisation.
In another event, 'Janmashati Sankalp Yagya Sabha' was organised by Chandra Shekhar Azad Janmashatabdi Samaroh Samiti.

Vir Shiromani Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Smarak Samiti organised 'Shahidi Mela' with the objective of acquainting the school children with the sacrifices of Azad.
Stalls of eatables, books and other items were put up and the entry to the fair was free.
Stage was provided to the children where they showcased their talent through the events such as group songs and solo songs which were based on patriotic themes.
Prize distribution for the sketching and essay writing competition was held in which the chief guest was MP Rewati Raman Singh.
The competition took place on February 26 in which altogether 500 children participated.
They made various sketches of Chandra Shekhar Azad and wrote essay on the topic 'Azad Ji ka balidaan evam azadi mein yogdaan'. The results were as follows- Sketching (class 3rd to 5th)- Vibha Singh (I), Suraj Kumar (II), Amitesh Srivastav (III).
In essay writing the winners were- Class 6th to 8th- Maneesha Singh (I), Abhishek Kumar (II), Kamini Singh (III); Class 9th to 12th- Sachin Ojha (I), Rajesh Kumar (II), Pushpendra Kumar (III).
Besides, 10 consolation prizes were given in each category and all the participants were handed over the certificate of participation.
