Khan was here to participate in a private programme. During his brief stay at the circuit house, he said these houses would be provided to the poor people of both communities who lost their shelter in the riots. They would have to pay Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 in installments and after completing the installments they would become owners of these houses.

Responding to a question, Khan who is also the chairman of the review committee for closed cotton mills, said such mills at Mau would be revived. He indicated that the government had decided to provide electricity to the weavers at cheaper rate.

He further said that 50 per cent outstanding payment of electricity bills of the ‘bunker’ community would be compounded on the pattern of farmers bills.
