The million-dollar question came into focus in the Vidhan Sabha when Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mohammad Azam Khan left his seat in a huff, as if he was staging a walkout, and urged Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey to take away his responsibilities of the Parliamentary Affairs Department.

A piquant situation arose in the House as Azam Khan refused to take his seat despite requests from his colleagues. “I am hurt,” said Khan adding observations made in the House portrayed him in bad light. “I will not sit in my place now,” he said while leaving his seat in a huff and moving towards the lobby.

All this happened when BJP member Hukum Singh raised a point of order saying Khan should also listen to members while disposing of files in the House. The Speaker also endorsed the point and said the minister should restrict himself to work of Parliamentary Affairs in the House.

Taking strong exception to the observations, Khan said he had always paid adequate attention to the House. He said the Speaker should get him removed from the post of Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
