Enter B Bar, leave Delhi and enter London, Paris, Dubai all at once. The famed Parisian chain Buddha Bar’s offering for India — B Bar in Select CityWalk, Saket, boasts the same super posh Oriental meets Victorian elegance that its predecessors are known for, and there are lovely blondes dressed in blingy designer finery to escort you into a

spellbinding vastness.

What’s missing, though, is the signature Buddha statue. After controversies over its name and the Buddha statue at its Jakarta restaurant, the owners have done away with both. Nevertheless, you will find rejuvenating luxury all around you — the dining area covers over 15,000 sqft of space and seats 330, sexy red-gold ambience, elegant chandeliers, and impressive Oriental artifacts create a dazzling setting, and there’s a tranquil life-size Samurai statue watching over you as you have your meal. Now, coming to the kitchen, although the choice of dishes is pretty eclectic, it may not really excite gourmands, except a few droolworthy desserts.

The starters that we had were palatable and the Five Spices Barbecued Chicken and the Vegetable Massaman Curry were the same as what’s served in your regular Delhi restaurants. But then, you don’t go to B Bar searching for the dish of your dreams. Be seen here, savour the atmosphere, have a pleasant meal and flaunt it to your visiting overseas friends. You will come back with an experience to remember.
