Hindustan Times deserves all kudos for bringing out this news about the condition of B.Ed. colleges in the country. In Rajasthan also this mushrooming has taken place. Moreover no rules of the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) and the UGC are being followed in the selection of the teachers for these B.Ed. colleges in Rajasthan.
The persons without any NCTE or Ph.D. in education awarded before 2002 are being openly appointed in these colleges thereby rendering these degrees of B.Ed. vulnerable of being declared invalid any time.
The univesities in Rajasthan have also turned a blind eye and have granted affiliations to these colleges without going into the details of the basic qualifications of the teachers. Moreover it is the school teachers who are teaching in these university affiliated colleges and the UGC, NCTE, the Government of Rajasthan, and the vice-chancellors of universities have no concern with the quality of the teachers graduating from these colleges. A thorough probe by the CBI must be ordered by the PMO in running of the B.Ed. colleges in Rajasthan.
