“I have written to the district magistrate, informing him about her condition. She is fit and out of danger. It has been two days and we have not heard from anyone regarding her future,” said Dr Ashok Mishra, chief medical superintendent (CMS), district hospital, Sector 30.

Meanwhile, the DM has directed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to take a decision on her future stay.

Childline, a programme under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme, has approached the hospital authorities on the DM’s direction. “The CMS has told me that she is fine. A meeting will be held with the CWC to decide on the next step. Within a day or two, she will be taken to a shelter home,” said Satyaprakash, spokesperson, Childline.

“After she is taken to a shelter, the government will wait for three months for her parents. If they do not show up, we will start the adoption process,” he said.
