“WHY AREN’T you talking to me, didi?” Deepanjali kept saying this to her sister as she cuddled Vaishali, the four-year-old girl who was brought to Childline a month back. On Wednesday, the girl was reunited with her parents who took her back home.

“I was praying throughout for Vaishali and it’s by God’s grace that she is all right and back with us,” said Vaishali’s mother, Rita Agrahari. Vaishali is the girl who was reportedly abandoned by her ‘family members’ who left her at a crèche in Lalbagh and did not come to take her back.

According to Rita, she was leaving with her two daughters for her village from Charbagh Railway Station on August 21 and while boarding the train, she pushed Vaishali inside but could not board the train herself before it started moving. Thus, she lost the kid.

“After three days, while inquiring about my daughter I contacted Ashiana Police Station but they refused to file the case as the incident took place in Charbagh.

Yesterday, we reached Moti Nagar Women’s home and from there we got to know that our daughter was here”, said the mother.

Childline authorities handed over Vaisahli to her parents after inquiring about them and also visited their home in Aashiana.

People who left Vaishali at the crèche, it was assumed, must have found her at Charbagh railway station and left her at the cheche, seeing it a safe place for the girl.
