Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday directed Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni and Finance Department officials to make arrangement for more funds for the three crucial sectors that saw the BJP sweeping the last assembly elections. Money should not be a constraint in carrying out works for improving road condition, power situation and water availability, the CM said. If necessary, more budgetary allocations should be made for the sectors, Chouhan directed.

The Chief Minister also directed the officers to ensure that all announcements made by him were implemented in a time frame.

The Chief Secretary already wrote to all departments to make adequate budgetary provisions for implementing announcements made by the Chief Minister.

Sources said additional resources might be mopped up for road, power and water. The Government can divert funds from other departments for the purpose.

Some austerity measures are also being worked out to save money. In this connection, the meeting discussed prospect of winding up some district and divisional offices having little work.

State Planning Board vice-chairman Sompal Shashtri suggested ways to mobilise additional resources for top priority sectors. He suggested winding up of some ongoing schemes, which are no longer useful.
