Comedy is not everyone’s cup of tea and only the adept should attempt it, says actor Pankaj Kapoor, who is making a comeback to television after three-and-a-half years with Naya Office Office. “It’s a team of thorough professionals working in the serial. The soul of the show is the brilliant script by Ashvini Dheer that leaves no scope for modification or suggestions by any member of the crew,” says Kapoor, adding that hailing from a middle-class family in small-time Ludhiana, it is easy for him to empathise with and emote the predicament of the common man who gets strangled by the

red tape and is puzzled by the devious and lax ways of the government employees in the satire.
“The old adage ‘jis ka kaam usi ko saajhe’ holds true in every age. One should not dabble with a genre, be it comedy or any other, unless is adept and comfortable with it,” opines the theatre actor, who has time and again proved his comic flair.
“Hamming and loud comedy is jarring, but then, cinema and television are mass media and to reach out to all and sundry, so you have to put up with all kinds of stuff,” says the actor, three of whose films are on the way, including Blue Umbrella, Dharm and an untitled one.
