China's Lin Dan made history when he became the first shuttler to win a third successive title at the World Badminton Championships, beating compatriot Chen Jin in the final in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Lin, champion in 2006 and 2007, posted a 21-18, 21-16 victory in the 45-minute men's singles final.

The championships were not held last year because of the Beijing Olympics.
