Bahrain, India to sign labour pact

Bahrain informs Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi that it was ready to ink a bilateral MoU on manpower.

Bahrain informed Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi, who arrived in Manama on a two-day visit on Thursday, that it was ready to sign an agreement on manpower.

During his meeting with Bahrain's Labour Minister Majeed Mohsen Al Alawi, Ravi pointed out that there was a need for inking a bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) on manpower, referring to India's treaties with the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

In response, Majeed Al Alawi stated that Bahrain would sign the MoU.

Later, Ravi called on Bahrain's Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the two leaders discussed their countries' long-standing ties and the need to strengthen relations in various fields.

The Bahraini prime minister acknowledged the contribution of Indian manpower in the development of the Gulf region and assured the minister that he would take all measure to ensure the welfare of the large number of Indian nationals working here.
