Bajrang Dal, Sena men held on V-Day eve

ACTIVISTS OF the Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena were arrested from various localities on Tuesday as a precautionary measure on the eve of Valentine’s Day.

Notices were also served on more than 50 people belonging to various political parties and outfits for issuing statements that ‘could cause law-and-order problem’.

The Shiv Sena district chief Rajeev Chaturvedi and five other party activists were arrested in TT Nagar. The action was taken under Section

151. CSP Dharamvir Yadav said it was a preventive action. The Kamla Nagar police arrested some Bajrang Dal workers for ‘creating unrest’ while the Habibganj police arrested Mahendra Verma, 30, a Bajrang Dal office-bearer from Arera Colony. He was arrested and sent to jail. More arrests could follow by Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the police also served notices to over 50 people belonging to various parties and outfits for issuing statements in favour of Valentine’s Day or against it.

Officials warned of action against anybody who would dare to take law in his or her hands. Those who were served notices include workers of Shiv Sena, Bajrang Hammal Morcha, Bajrang Dal, Youth Congress and Nationalist Congress Party amongst others. Those who had created disturbance last year were identified and were included in the list of those served the notices.
