On August 24, Bhupendra Singh Chopra and Rajiv Mishra, died in the blast. And from September 6 to September 9, the city police and the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) ran a host of tests on Subodh and Suneil Dixit, former Bajrang Dal activists and 1992 riot accused, in Mumbai.

The Dixit brothers are reported to have spoken to Bhupendra and Rajiv minutes before their death. But the narco-analysis reports have cleared them of all charges.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Singh told Hindustan Times: “We have nothing at present to prove the involvement of the Bajrang Dal or VHP nor do we know what Bhupendra and Rajiv were up to.”

But the investigators are now looking at the blasts in Nanded and Thane, where the explosives and devices, the circumstances and the people killed or involved came from the same organisation. In both the cases, the ATS Mumbai has charged men of Bajrang Dal and Hindu Janjagruti Samiti — offshoots of the Sangh Parivar.
